Oasis Festival 2017

The Oasis Festival kicked off its third-edition in Marrakech, Morocco from Sept. 14-17, entreating international dance music fans to "dance somewhere different" with a boutique festival that offered an impressive house and techno lineup highlighted by Nicolas Jaar, Richie Hawtin, and Solomun.

The three-day event sold out well in advance, drawing an estimated 3,000-4,000 attendees to The Source venue's poolside gardens and prompting organizers to tweet reminders that no tickets would be available at the door prior to the event. Judging by the demand for tickets, The Oasis Festival appears poised to scale in size and location next year, which is a good problem for a relatively fledgling destination festival to have.

Commencing with an eight-hour set by Solomun on Thursday and closing with a stellar b2b by Jackmaster and Axel Boman on Sunday, The Oasis Festival offered plenty of memorable musical moments for house and techno heads. Oasis also strived to offer tourists a taste of local culture with early morning yoga sessions, local food vendors, henna tattoos and a hookah bar, plus noteworthy performances by Moroccan DJs Amine K, Unes, Fassi and Driss Skali.
